Cubicle Fugitive Gets Publically Executed

BURLINGTON,  August 22  - Cubicle Fugitive, a successful professional services marketing firm, is embarking on a redesign of their company image and, rather than waiting to announce a perfect and polished solution, have decided to demystify the whole branding and web development process and execute their rebrand in real time and in public.

Although searching Google for terms like “branded publically” or “exposing your business” tends to elicit the wrong type of search results, Cubicle Fugitive, is hoping to evoke a different type of message. On its new site (www.publicexecution.ca) the company will take visitors through the step-by-step process of creating the brand of a company from the ground up. Although Cubicle Fugitive’s name is not part of this process (the partners love what it stands for), everything else is up for grabs – logo, stationery, business collateral, web site and positioning. In the beginning, www.publicexecution.ca will contain mostly blogs, sketches, wireframes and designs, but as time goes on, Cubicle Fugitive’s website—and overall image—will evolve around the blog, proving once again that the medium can be the message.

While all of their client’s brands are unique, Cubicle Fugitive has found that the process for uncovering differentiation is often revealed through the same strategic and systematic 4D process (Discover, Decide, Design and Deliver). Although certain processes are proprietary to the firm, readers of www.publicexecution.ca can look forward to an insightful blog on how ideas and debates can lead to tangible deliverables. Watch as the brand builds over time, step by step, and see what's really involved when transparency is applied to the development of a new corporate identity.

Developing a brand out in the open has a unique set of challenges and many technological choices need to be made very early on in the process in order to maintain a consistent and reliable web presence. The team at Cubicle Fugitive has chosen Sitefinity, an enterprise-ready CMS, as the backbone of their site which will allow for a constant stream of newly developed content, complete control over sophisticated functionality and a seamless integration with social media.

Unsure as to whether branding in public has been done before, the team at Cubicle Fugitive recognize that their experiment may be a little risky, but according to firm principal Kalvin MacLeod “We’re going public with our process to not only selfishly promote our little agency and have a little fun, but to also demystify the branding and web development process. Along the way we will give business owners helpful tips and tools to better understand and position their company.”

Morgan Macleod, partner at Cubicle Fugitive, went on to note, “We preach that brands are much more than a logo. That it’s about defining your business and creating a meaningful dialogue with your clients. Content, messaging, technology and design should all be done with your client in mind. So we thought what better way to rebrand, than to allow our client’s to participate in the process with us.”

Cubicle Fugitive’s new brand will be revealed over the next few months, culminating in the launch and testing of their new website live in October. In an effort to meet the tight timelines, the six person team at Cubicle Fugitive will be working in parallel. Some will be planning and developing strategy, while others will work on the design and technology. Everything will be documented on their blog. Since the firm is actively working with other real clients, that do take precedence over this project, this endeavour will take place in a vacuum between moments of downtime and self-sequestered late night sessions.
