A Modern Digital Experience for Ontario’s Law Clerks

With more than a decade of collaboration behind us, the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario (ILCO) returned to Cubicle Fugitive to redesign and redevelop its website. While the previous site had served members well for many years, shifting user expectations and an expanding library of content made it clear that ILCO needed a more modern, intuitive, and organized digital platform. Their goals were straightforward: a clean and contemporary design, streamlined navigation, refreshed imagery, and better access to member-focused resources.

Clean, Contemporary Design

To complement ILCO’s established brand, we created a sleek and modern interface that highlights the organization’s distinctive deep muted plum colour, paired with subtle teal accents and a light grey background. The result is an airy, polished visual identity that feels both professional and inviting. We also curated a new library of bright, modern stock photography featuring warm, collaborative business environments—imagery that better reflects today’s law clerks and conveys a sense of community and professionalism throughout the site.

Stronger, Clearer, and More Organized Content

Working closely with ILCO, we reorganized and refined their content, transforming dense information into clear, accessible resources. The new “Who We Are” page introduces visitors to the association through four key facts that clearly highlight ILCO’s history, purpose, and impact. The associations "Membership" content was expanded and reorganized into detailed pages outlining the benefits, qualifications, and application requirements for each membership type, supported by a new “Why Join” page featuring a clear summary and comparison table to help prospective members find the right fit.

The result is a beautifully modern and highly functional website.

Education—one of ILCO’s core pillars—was also elevated through a thoughtful restructuring of the Associate Program and CLE Module pages, ensuring that course details, requirements, and registration information are intuitive and easy to navigate. To enhance ILCO’s bi-annual conference experience, we developed a dedicated microsite that centralizes schedules, speakers, registration details, and event updates in one organized, user-friendly hub.

The new site also fully integrates Member365, the association’s membership management system. This integration allows ILCO members to seamlessly register for educational programs and events, access the job board, navigate the store, and manage their memberships with ease. Additionally, we worked with the association to establish a hidden, member-exclusive newsletter section which provides valuable resources, timely articles, and ongoing educational content designed to support professional development.

The result is a beautifully modern and highly functional website that better reflects ILCO’s professionalism, warmth, and commitment to its members. ILCO was thrilled with the outcome, and our team is incredibly proud of how every design and structural decision came together to create a site that truly reflects the professionalism, warmth, and community at the heart of the organization.
